Injection Molding

At Bondus we process injection molded parts, but we do not produce these in-house. We collaborate with trusted partners who have mastered the art of high-precision injection molding. In the design phase we join forces with the molding supplier for the design-for-manufacturability, to ensure most scalable and cost-efficient processing. 

We are experienced with employing our assembly processes on molded parts, such as spotting and bonding. This leads to highly repeatable products and a scalable production process. 

Injection molding is a replication technique, where polymer products are made by injecting molten polymer into a metal mold. This method relies on an accurately machined mold cavity, so that the replicated products are according to your product requirements. In addition, specific knowledge on polymer properties, such as melt- and shrinkage behavior is needed to successfully create molded products with high precision. 

Various molding techniques exist (for example 'injection-compression') and the right technology choice can only be made by evaluation of the design.

Technology benefits include;

  1. Tiniest feature sizes, able to reproduce features in the micro range. 
  2. Great dimensional repeatability
  3. Clean, as products can be molded in cleanroom environment
  4. Transparent result, suitable for optical applications

Most importantly, the technology is designed for scalability to high production volumes.

This technology is mainly used for making parts in medium to higher production volumes. This is where injection molding has the largest cost-efficiciency benefit. It can however still be realized for low volumes, in order to create highly repeatable products.
